Projects

Pie Factory Music aims to give young people the opportunity to try various music and related arts workshops in an informal and fun way. Our programme is designed to try these, whether as a taster or series of small workshops, but with pathways leading onto opportunities of progression and accreditation in elements of music creating and music business.


Our regular open workshops include:

The Zone - a weekly advanced dj, music techology, engineering & production workshop.

Carnival Club - drumming & percussion workshops offering performance opportunities.

Loud: Living Rock Academy - monthly workshop developing all aspects of band skills; working on creating original music, with the potential of recording in the Assembly Line Studio.

Loud: Living Jam Night - fortnightly workshops for anyone interested in jamming with other musicians.

Early Years - working with under 5's on simple percussion, songs and rhythms to engage children in music at an early age.

MMK - a weekly youth-led youth club with many musical activities, as well as street art & dance, drama and crafts.

The Zone Live! - a weekly workshop offering turntable skratching, human beatbox, live drums and the chance to work with our performance crew Dekforce 1.

Vocal Expressions & Vocal Expressions Juniors - weekly vocal workshops experimenting with & fusing different styles together; songwriting, recording & performance opportunities.

Urban Art - monthly workshop teaching different urban skills, e.g. stencils, 3D/textured art, aerosol art.

Guitar Lessons - monthly workshops for beginners and more advanced, teaching the guitar in a group setting.

Steel Drumming - weekly workshop teaching various rhythms, including Caribbean. Opportunity to perform at local events.

Sizzlin' Strings & Phoenix Brass - learn to play the violin, horn, cornet etc. Free instrument hire for the duration of the course.



Music Business School

Pie Factory Music also manages the Music Business School - a 1 year course offering all aspects of music business, including production, engineering, pa, lighting, health & safety etc.

The course offers accreditation in a non-threatening environment for those people interested in a career in the music business. No previous experience required.
